Today’s Charles Thompson images are the Coffin Stone on the western flanks of Djouce – note the old posts of a Powerscourt deer fence running behind. You can still find remains of this fence, particularly if you look for rocks where the iron posts were inserted into. The photo underneath is from an Alpine trip to Chamonix in 1914 which was cut short by the outbreak of war, the stocky man on the left would be a local mountain guide.
