Deer Cull

Only a few days ago the Dept of Agriculture had a well publicised announcement that there would be a much enlarged deer cull. Presumably to be conducted by NPWS staff and licenced hunters etc.

Hardly a co-incidence then that there was a notable recent increase in shots going off in local woods here. The news was out, approval to go out and shoot deer legally or illegally. No signage up of course, no consideration of public who might walk these woods, leading to bits of carcasses left about. There would be a transient population of a small number of deer in these woods and it’d be a great pity to seem them wiped out on the back of careless publicity from the state.
