Sugarloaf Way Update

The Sugarloaf Way is a signposted walking route that runs from Kilmacanogue to Vartry near Roundwood in Co.Wicklow. It connects with the Belmont Way at Kilmacanogue which in turn runs to Bray and the DART etc. Overall the Sugarloaf Way runs more or less parallel to the Wicklow Way and is hope to eventually connect with it and the Avonmore Way to allow for various combinations.

The published route of the Sugarloaf Way on our Wicklow East 1:25,000 map has changed recently at Ballinsoostia, it now takes a route through the woods at Altadore and over a new footbridge.

Also worth noting here that as of March 2025, the walking trails at the Upper Vartry Reservoir are open but the lower circuits are closed due to storm damage.
